It's not a salon. It's not a barber shop. It's a grooming lounge.

Fino For Men, at 7207 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 100, opened in May. It espouses the latest concept in personal grooming where everything is under one roof.

"Our slogan is, 'Elevating your lifestyle,' " master barber and general manager James Hardenberg said. "That's what we're about."

The 2,400-square-foot grooming facility offers upscale amenities, like razor shaves, hot towel treatments and shoe shines, as well as complementary beverages -- cold water and soda, for now.

"We're working on our liquor license," Hardenberg said.

Can't leave your work behind? There's free wireless Internet access.

Flat-screen TVs abound and are tuned to channels such as ESPN and CNN.

Beyond the foyer are twin mini Jacuzzis with throne-style seating for those wanting a pedicure. There's a separate room for skin care. The aesthetician offers facials, body waxing and exfoliation treatments.

The nail technician is Melissa Duong.

"It's fun to work here; it's like working with a bunch of brothers," she said.

Want an extensive makeover? Using a 10-minute breath test, Jennifer Ashley, a personal trainer, can give patrons a metabolic profiling. That determines their caloric needs, for a personalized map to good health.

"They make sure you look good on the outside, I make sure you're feeling good on the inside," she said.

The decor at Fino is upscale modern with hardwood flooring, black leather seating, wall accents and subtle wall colors, like gray.

As some clients will be coming straight from work, lockers are available for valuables.

Haircuts start at $35, and hair-care product lines carried by the grooming lounge include YSPA, Redken for Men and Truefitt & Hill.

Fino For Men is owned and operated by Alejandro Hormechea, who hails from the East Coast. He has a degree in hospitality management. He and Hardenberg are longtime friends and had planned such a business for a long time.

"We (intend to) under promise and over deliver," Hormechea said.

That plan fits in with the name, Fino, which means "fine" in Spanish. The name came from a conversation that the owner had with a former girlfriend.

Fino caters to men, but women are welcome, too.

It's more about a relationship, a home away from home," Hormechea said. "It's like 'Cheers.' You walk in and everybody knows your name."

Construction worker Isaiah Dodd recently was at the facility for a haircut. He echoed that sentiment.

"My first impression was, like, wow, what a beautiful place," he said. "It's comfortable, It's laid back. It felt like home."
